CHAPTER 8 – The Power
of GOAL SETTING
The Power of Goal setting can be a powerful
technique
for planning your ideal future, and for motivating
yourself to turn a vision of the
future into reality. The process of setting goals help you choose where
you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve,
therefore knowing where you have to concentrate your efforts. In fact,
goal setting is generally accepted as among the most valid and useful
motivation tool in sport psychology, industrial and organizational psychology.
Setting goals in your life is the single most important task.
Manifesting
your goals and life dreams does not depend on your education or on your
ethnicity or cultural heritage, and is in
no
way determined by your environment. It is only the result of how and
what
you think! When you learn to live from this level, you can
spontaneously
fulfill your every desire. You can create miracles. The master key is learning to
think
deliberately!
You set your goals with your
conscious mind; however, the real act of achievement is happening in
your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind uses about 85% of your
brain mass. It is always in the present and its memory is infinite and
beyond time.
Most people only tap a fraction of their capabilities, never even
scratching the surface of possibilities lying dormant within them
selves. They do not make the progress they would like to make and are
fully capable of making. Why do so many fail to reach their potential?
Simply because they have not clearly defined their goals!
Tap into you’re own subconscious mind? for Success. Setting goals
and intentions is a conscious exercise. While achieving goals is a
subconscious exercise.
A captain of his vessel when guiding to its destination cannot take it
by chance; with precision planning, plotting his path; byway with
precise guidelines, doing things in a certain way with accuracy he will
reach his goal within a scientific way and at an exact time. You too
can use the same scientific principle in goal setting to become wealthy
and rich.
Every Man and Woman will use some
form
of goal setting in their lives, in a sense our life is made up of
smaller
goals even if we don’t consider them as goals. A goal need not be
something
big and spectacular, not everyone wants to become a millionaire,
however
people in general want just a happy and comfortable life and their
goals
are therefore ordinary and simple ones. It is a sad fact that more that
85%
of people in the western world will give more time and effort in
planning
their holiday goals than setting a goal in their business life.
Most people have small goals in
their
life; perhaps they may want to find a good job, or keep their current
job,
maybe promoted in their current job. There are people whose goal is to
go
to college and graduate. Others wish to travel abroad or take a
vacation. Some desire to find love and others want to be healthy.
Building a muscular body, learning to swim, learning to speak a foreign
language, or just the desire look and dress good. Most of these goals
are achievable and are within reach, and can fill most of our time
without to much effort. When fulfilled, we either try to repeat them
again and again, or move to other similar sized goals. You see, even if
you think that you don’t have any goals, you actually have them and
work toward achieving them.
The desire to become wealthy and
rich,
have fun, make life more comfortable and enjoyable are a commendable
goal.
Having clarity of purpose is important for the achievement of any goal,
therefore your goal must be specific and clear and not something vague.
While it’s fun to dream about being rich and successful, you have to
know
and define what you really and truly want to get or achieve. Clarity of
purpose is important for your success. When there is clarity of purpose
you know what steps to take. With clarity of purpose you focus on the
goal,
without wasting time or energy. Clarity of purpose is like focusing a
strong
source of light on your goal, so that you see it clearly. The amount of
money and within a given time is important to clarify, so that the
subconscious
mind plans the realization.
Your Goal must be a total commitment and understood while being agreed
upon within your own mind if it’s to be effective. Having Will-Power and Self Discipline will go hand in hand, it does
mean
that your goal should be consistent and in line with a commitment.
As with any goal setting, make sure that you build in a realistic time
scale for the attainment.
Affirming you goal in writing is an important part of subconscious
programming,
writing your goal down on paper; you are indelibly setting your goal in
stone for your subconscious to work a plan. Clarify the amount you
require,
in the given time, and most importantly how you intend to commit any
labour
to the task within the time scale.
At the stage of writing your goal
on paper, don’t be too concerned on the intricacies of how you will
accomplish your goal as your conscious mind has no concern or
conception at this moment especially of how you will achieve. Within
the time scale stated in your affirmation, your subconscious mind will
present you with idea’s that may come in urges or visions, when you
least expect them, they may come early or later.
Remember your most powerful asset is your subconscious mind, and on
many
occasions that name that was on the tip of your tongue that you cant
remember
instantly, will suddenly appear when you least expect it. The same in
planning
your goal, the subconscious mind will work on the preparation with the
help
of the universal consciousness it will present to you out of the vast
universe
your master plan. You have to be very confident in this
realization,
however don’t expect your riches to come rolling down the high street
into
your pocket out of thin air, you have to act upon your subconscious
signals’
if in doubt go back and digest the subconscious mind revealed.
How to Set a Successful Goal?
Successful goal setting include this magic formula;
Planning ahead, using affirmations and visualization, being focused, open-minded,
patient, self disciplined, motivated, ambitious and
positive.
Here are a few tips to help developing your goal
1. Know how much
you want and write it down on paper the exact amount. Write your goal
down:
This will crystallize it and give more power to the subconscious mind.
Set
a realistic goal: It is important to set a goal that you can achieve
within
a reasonable time and a specified amount
2. Scrutinize why you want to achieve this amount,
and what you will gain by achieving it.
3. Make certain in your mind with a burning desire
that you in fact want to achieve this goal. State your goal as a
positive statement: convey your goal positively to the subconscious
mind each and every day
4. Gain as much knowledge as you possibly can for
achieving this amount. Appertaining to your knowledge of what you
already know.
5. See pictures about the amount for example; add a
few noughts to your bank statement. Collect pictures; bundles of money
as
the images will burn into the urges of your subconscious.
6. Imagine the amount clearly in your minds eye.
Practise visualization of the amount you desire.
7. In your mind visualize as if you already own that
amount. Cut up rolls of paper, wrap them inside genuine notes of money
and feel as if you are already rich.
8. Be specific as to the exact amount of money you
want and affirm in your mind the ultimate outcome.
9. Learn to focus your mind on the amount at all
times until its part of your daily thought pattern.
10. Demonstrate persistence and self discipline in your life.
Every goal has to start with a plan and each plan has to have steps,
starting this process with your ultimate Goal, and work down to the
things you can do today to start moving towards them.
Goal setting is something most of us recognize as necessary for our
future success. By setting a sharp, clearly defined goal, you can
evaluate and
take pride in the achievement. By setting your goal, you will also
raise
your self-confidence, as you recognize your ability and competence in
achieving your goal reassuring yourself of additional greater successes.
When you have achieved your goal, take the time to enjoy the
satisfaction of having done so. Absorb the implications of the goal
achievement, and
always thank the Universal Consciousness for its gift.
If you haven’t already set a
goal, do so by starting now. Before you go on to the next chapter; put
this
book aside until you do so. As you make this technique of goal setting
part
of your life, you'll find you are already becoming rich in your mind.
“Unless you try to
do
something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.”
