Newport

Although Newport (Casnewydd) is Wales' youngest city, it dates back 2000 years as a Celtic settlement and is known for its national pride, especially seen in its youth culture. The wider area of Newport is home to Britain's most varied and fascinating Roman site at Caerleon and one of Britain's most important historical houses, Tredegar House. The Celtic Manor Resort is also in Newport, which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2010. Newport sports coarse fishing pools and game fishing reservoirs and some great winter sea fishing.

Locations; Magor to Newport

This area is in the upper area of the Bristol Channel. This area should be noted for its low warter fishing in the summer and autum. There are high water marks but the better fishing is done over low water on the smallest of tides.
